Rule and Format Changes for 2008-2009 Season

Below are the rule and format changes that will be implemented for the 2008-2009 season.  We believe these changes will enhance the League and give membership a better product.

1.  Players rostered on any Junior team and/or any Tier I youth team will NOT be eligible to participate in the league at either the Varsity or Junior Varsity levels.

2.  The league will adopt the "tag-up" offside rule.  USA Hockey adopted the rule change with other youth leagues/teams.  We have been contacted by a number of the clubs requesting the change so we have decided to implement it for the coming season.

3.  The game format for both Varsity and JV will change this season.  The varsity games will be 3, 15-minute, stop-time periods.  The ice will be resurfaced every two periods.  Games will continue to be played on Thursdays with each rink hosting 2 games beginning at approximately 7 and 8:45 pm.  Ice will be used at ITC Richardson and Dr. Pepper Stars Center in Grapevine to acommodate teh additional time requirements.  As in the past, depending on the number of Varsity teams this season, overflow games will again be played on Sundays.  Junior Varsity games will play 3, 12 minute, stop-time periods this season.

4.  The HS league was created so that players could play hockey representing their school.  While some of the teams in the league have also ffielded travel teams the past several seasons, the priority of any member club shall be the high school league.  Therefore, no club may exclude a player based on travel hockey affiliation.  If a player is eligible to play for a high school team he/she may not be excluded due to his/her travel team affiliation.  Additionally, eligible players should not be forced to play travel hockey with their high school club as a condition of playing on the high school club team.

5.  The cost for this year's season will be $7200.00 per team at both the Varsity and Junior Varsity levels.  Gate prices will continue to be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students.  There will be no gate fee for the JV games.

Additional rules and policy changes will be sent to the membership prior to the annual meeting, including a new no-pass, no-play procedure that will also include JV teams.  If you have any questions please contact us.  Thank you!
